The Story

Violetta is celebrated in the salons of Paris, loved by everyone yet bound to no one. Until she meets Alfredo. For the first time, she chooses love over the moment. What follows is a struggle between happiness and propriety, between what the heart desires and what the world demands. Verdi based the opera on *La Dame aux camélias* by Alexandre Dumas, fils, and turned it into his most personal opera.

From the exuberant toast to the eerie silence of the finale: this is Verdi at his most powerful. The arias carry the entire story, from exuberant joie de vivre to a farewell that stays with you forever. And everything sounds just as it should, with a full orchestra performing live in the hall.
