About this show

What makes this production unforgettable

Two hundred performers on one stage, the La Passione orchestra and the deCHORALE choir, conducted by Paul Dinneweth
Beethoven's immortal masterpieces, from "Fate" to "Ode to Joy"
A monumental tribute, two hundred years after the master’s death

There is music that marks an era. And then there is Beethoven, who seems to transcend time itself. Two hundred years after his death, Music Hall Classics brings together his greatest masterpieces in a single evening—not with a modest ensemble, but with two hundred performers on one stage.

THE TRIBUTE

Beethoven deserves grandeur, and that is exactly what he gets here. To mark the 200th anniversary of his death, Music Hall Classics brings together his most famous compositions in a single program. This is no abridged suite or intimate recital, but a full symphony orchestra and a large mixed choir that together bring his legacy to life in all its glory.

THE MUSIC

From the famous opening motif of the 5th Symphony—Fate knocking at the door—to the serene “Moonlight,” the tender “Für Elise,” and the radiant “Pastoral.” And then the finale: the powerful “Benedictus” and “Hosanna” from the *Missa Solemnis* and the overwhelming finale of the Ninth Symphony, in which soloists, choir, and orchestra join together to sing the “Ode to Joy.” All performed live in the concert hall, brought to life by two hundred voices and instruments.

THE IMPLEMENTATION

Beethoven 200 is presented by the La Passione symphony orchestra and the large mixed choir deCHORALE—a combined force of 140 singers—under the inspiring direction of conductor Paul Dinneweth. Last year, this same ensemble presented three sold-out concerts featuring *Carmina Burana* and *Bolero*. Great symphonic music in its purest form, live and in full force.

FOR WHOM

For those who cherish classical music, and for those discovering it for the first time. Beethoven 200 is accessible without ever becoming superficial. You don’t have to be an expert to be moved by it.
